Lipica Stud Farm driver Miha Tavčar is first amongst Lipizzaners once again

Today, Hungarian four-in-hand driver Jozsef Dobrovitz added first places in driving skills and four-in-hand driving to his victory in yesterday’s marathon, becoming overall winner of this major international driving competition, which attracted a record number of 70 competitors and 200 horses from 13 countries to Lipica Stud Farm between Thursday and today.

After the award ceremony attended by the most successful drivers and their carriages, Tavčar praised the competition’s first class organisation and Lipica Estates for its exemplary driving conditions.

In the category for pairs, first place went to Italian competitor Jozsef Dibak who had already gained excellent results at Lipica in previous years.

The best Slovenian competitor was Lipica Stud Farm driver Miha Tavčar who took fifth place, becoming best-placed Lipizzaner driver in the category for pairs. His attention is already focused on preparations for the World Driving Championship for Pairs organised by Lipica Stud Farm between the 20th and 24th of September, 2017.

Three other Lipica Stud Farm drivers wore Slovenian colours in this demanding category: Mitja Mahorčič taking 20th place, Marko Memon 24th, and Klemen Turk 26th.

Slovenian driver Robert Vrhovnik was pleased with second place at his first international competition in a less demanding category. Single drivers and pony drivers also ended the competition with positive feelings.
