Dry Stone Wall Construction Workshop at the Lipica Stud Farm Estate
We invite you to a one-day dry stone wall construction workshop in Lipica, where, under the guidance of experienced mentors, you will learn one of the most characteristic skills of the Karst cultural landscape and UNESCO heritage.
The programme begins and ends at Bonavista and includes a theoretical introduction, practical fieldwork and a concluding presentation of the results.
Programme
- 08:30–09:00 Arrival and participant registration at Bonavista.
- 09:00–10:00 Theoretical session: history of dry stone wall construction, the importance of dry stone walls in the Karst region, UNESCO heritage, presentation of the Dry Stone Wall Construction in Lipica project.
- 10:00–13:00 Practical fieldwork under the guidance of mentors.
- 13:00–13:45 Karst snack.
- 13:45–16:30 Practical fieldwork.
- 16:30–17:30 Conclusion of the programme at Bonavista: presentation of the completed work, discussion with mentors, award of certificates of participation and social gathering.
The price includes: professional mentoring, practical training, use of basic tools, protective gloves, a Karst snack, workshop materials and a certificate of participation.
Companions and partners: For companions or partners of participants who will not attend the workshop, Lipica and the Karst Heritage Institute can jointly suggest the most suitable options for spending the day in Lipica according to their interests and the current programme offer.
