Lipizzan Horse Day 2026
The Government of the Republic of Slovenia declared May 19 as Lipizzan Horse Day, while at Lipica Stud Farm we will celebrate it on Sunday, May 17. Join us for a full day of events featuring spectacular equestrian performances, carriage rides, Lipizzan horse experiences, children’s entertainment, and culinary delights in the unique ambience of Lipica. The highlight of the day will be the performance of the Lipica Riding School at the hippodrome featuring musical guests Gregor Ravnik and Štefica Grasselli.
PROGRAM – LIPIZZAN HORSE DAY, MAY 17 *
LIPICA STUD FARM, from 09:00 onwards:
- walks around the stud farm,
- “Small Machines, Great Helpers – Lipica’s Garage Heroes” machinery presentation showcasing the equipment used to maintain the Lipica estate,
- children’s hay maze, park in front of the indoor riding arena,
- photography exhibition by Alenka Slavinec “Love in Us”, lobby of the indoor riding arena,
- self-guided tours of the historic core and Lipikum Museum,
- tours of the Avgust Černigoj Gallery,
- children’s entertainment, meadow by the hippodrome,
- culinary offer, tent by the hippodrome,
- 09:00, 09:45, 10:45, 11:45 horse shoeing demonstrations, forge,
- 09:00 – 14:00 and 17:00 – 18:00 15-minute carriage rides,
- 09:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30 pony workshops, pony corner,
- 09:30 viewing of the herd being released to pasture, main entrance of the stud farm,
- 10:00, 11:00, 16:30 “Meet the Lipizzan Horse with a Rider” program, outdoor riding arena,
- 10:30 and 11:30 guided tour of the Avgust Černigoj Gallery led by the curator, Avgust Černigoj Gallery,
- 10:30 and 12:00 educational workshop “Meet Lipizzan Foals with a Veterinarian”,
- 11:00 marathon carriage driving presentation (harnessing and carriage driving demonstration with commentary), hippodrome,
- 13:00 screening of the artistic film LOVE IN US and exhibition of artistic prints at Hotel Maestoso with guided tour by the author Alenka Slavinec, Hotel Maestoso,
- 15:00 performance of the LIPICA RIDING SCHOOL with guests

Experience an attractive presentation of marathon carriage driving, where you will discover the skill of the drivers, the strength of the Lipizzan horses, and the art of harnessing and carriage driving. The program will also include commentary explaining the individual elements and discipline.
