Irish rider Anna Merveldt and her horse Idamantes win St. Georges
Irish rider Anna Merveldt and her horse Idamantes took first place at St. Georges, the most demanding category on the first day of the International Dressage Tournament at Lipica Stud Farm. Her convincing performance resulted in achieving the result of 69.579%.
The Hungarian rider Robert Acs and his horse Sol de Espana Old finished in second place (68.553%), whilst third place went to his compatriot Erika Szeicz and her horse Son of Glory Old (67.526%).
The junior competition was won by young Italian rider Valentina Remold and her horse Broadway (69.162%). In the competition for young 5-yearold horses, first place went to Sascha Schulz from Luxembourg and his horse Quel Filou (45.6 points), whilst the competition for young 6-yearold horses was won by the Czech rider Hana Vasaryova and her horse Silky Moves (42.3 points).
In the children’s competition, first position on the final podium was gained by young Austrian rider Theresa Staudinger and her horse Sunlight 4 (73.334%), whilst the most successful rider in the competition for ponies was Hungarian competitor Hanna Ivan and her pony Equestricons Epiascer (68.077%).
Tomorrow, the programme begins with competitions for young horses, young riders and juniors. The main attractions, however, will be the two demanding Grand Prix Category Competitions.
The competitions’ highlight takes place Sunday afternoon (2:30 p.m.), when the best Grand Prix riders will compete for Dressage World Cup Points in the freestyle programme with music. Amongst them being 2014 winner Valentina Truppa (Italy), 2013 winner Elena Sidneva (Russia) and 2012 Swiss rider winner with a Slovenian surname Marcela Krinke-Susmelj.
The four days of competition will witness performances by 75 riders and 101 horses from 15 different countries. Slovenia will be represented by Polona Kalan and her horse Elton.
