President of the Finnish Parliament Visits Lipica

On Sunday, 4 June, Maria Lohela, President of the Finnish Parliament, who started her official visit to Slovenia in Lipica, encountered the white Lipizzaners at Lipica Stud Farm. She is one of the youngest politicians to have held this position in the Finnish Parliament, and she is a great horse lover.

Maria Lohela spent Sunday afternoon on a tour around Lipica Stud Farm estate, and listened with great interest to its rich history, accompanied as she was by the president of the Slovenia-Finland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Branislav Rajić. From a carriage she eyed the marvellous Lipica avenues, and she also spent some time seeing Velblanca, the oldest farm in Lipica’s historical centre, a farm which dates back to 1703. Together with a director of Lipica Stud Farm, Lorela Dobrinja, she attended a performance of the Lipica Classical Riding School, and was especially impressed by the performance of the chosen stallions in the act “school above the ground”. She was particularly charmed by the dark foals that were born this year.

The elegant Lipizzaners in marvellous Lipica were a wonderful backdrop to the talks on the development and upgrade of relations between the two countries, as well as other current global topics.
