On Sunday, 6 September 2026, you are invited to Lipica Stud Farm for one of the most beautiful equestrian events of the year. This festive day will be dedicated to the Lipizzan horse, equestrian tradition and the connection between European stud farms.

This year’s guests of honour come from the German Marbach State Stud. The highlight of the day will be a special performance at the hippodrome featuring joint acts by performers from Lipica and Marbach – a combination of white Lipizzan horses, five horse breeds raised at Marbach, elegance, trust and outstanding equestrian expertise.

Experience a celebration of horses, heritage and unforgettable moments in Lipica, bringing together European stud farms.

During the gala performance at 15:00, the hippodrome will host a special and exciting Drive & Drive competition – a competitive challenge featuring the Porsche Cayenne E4 and horse-drawn carriages.

On the obstacle course, Domen Prevc, ski jumper and godfather of a Lipica foal, Bojan Cvjetićanin, lead singer of Joker Out, and Vesna Ponorac, actress, television and radio presenter, will compete against one another.

The competitors will complete the same course first in the Porsche Cayenne E4 and then as co-drivers in a horse-drawn carriage. Vesna Ponorac will be the co-driver in the Marbach Stud carriage, while Bojan Cvjetićanin and Domen Prevc will compete in Lipica carriages. The times from both runs will be added together, and the overall winner will be the competitor who completes both challenges in the fastest and most skilful way.

The competition will be officially started with a wave of the flag by Naoki Nakamura, while the Kras Brass Band will add to the festive atmosphere.

Marbach State Stud, located in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg, is considered the oldest state stud farm in Germany and has more than 500 years of horse-breeding tradition. Today, it combines a rich heritage, professional expertise and modern approaches to horse breeding and education. In Lipica, representatives of Marbach will appear as guests of honour and introduce visitors to the diversity of horse breeds raised at their stud farm.

Step closer to a Lipizzan horse and discover the world of one of the most recognisable horse breeds. This educational programme at Lipica Stud Farm is suitable for children and adults and offers a unique insight into the character, intelligence and everyday life of Lipizzan horses.

Experienced Lipica riders will introduce you to working with a horse, answer your questions and share fascinating facts about the special bond between people and Lipizzan horses. At the end of the programme, you will also have the opportunity to pet the horse.

“Meet the Lipizzan Horse” is a unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to deepen their understanding of the horse and discover the rich tradition of Lipica Stud Farm, where a special bond between people and Lipizzan horses has been nurtured for centuries.

Watching a training session in Lipica is an excellent opportunity to experience the methods and techniques of the Lipica Riding School first-hand. Under the watchful eye of the head trainer, riders perform all the movements that can also be seen in the Lipica Riding School performance, but in a slightly more relaxed setting. At the end of the training session, you may also ask the head trainer questions and discover another secret that makes Lipica so unique.

Capriole, levade, the grand quadrille and other demanding movements, mastered only by the finest Lipizzan horses, are the result of years of dedicated work and trust between rider and horse.
