The youngest visitors to Lipica will get to know the horses at the instructive workshop with ponies. A rider will introduce you to the ponies, and the bravest among you will have the chance to enter the paddock and make friends with the ponies up close. The workshop with ponies is a special experience for all children, and will help them lose their fear of horses and prepare them for future riding lessons at Lipica.

The riders of Lipica will show you everything you want to know about horses. That includes learning why horses have hooves, how their digestion works, how they sleep, and why you should “never look a gift horse in the mouth”. Meeting the Horses is an excellent opportunity for the curious of all ages to meet this noble animal and talk with our riders about what interests you.

Long before horses were ridden for the first time in prehistoric times, man harnessed them for help with outdoor work. The invention of the carriage was extremely useful in other areas as well, because it allowed people to travel great distances quickly, while transporting larger amounts of cargo. For many centuries, the carriages of Lipica drove between Trieste and Vienna, travelling the entire journey in just three days.

Watching a training session in Lipica is a great opportunity to see first-hand the methods and approaches of the Lipica Riding School. Under the watchful eye of the main trainer, the riders perform all the movements you can see in the Lipica Riding School’s show, but in a somewhat more relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the training, you can ask the main trainer to tell you a secret or two about what makes Lipica unique.
