An Evening in Honour of Avgust Černigoj: 125 Years Since the Birth of the Master
All art enthusiasts, and especially fans of Avgust Černigoj, are cordially invited to join us for a pleasant Thursday evening, where we will commemorate the life of avant-garde artist Avgust Černigoj. Avgust Černigoj is the founder of constructivism in Slovenia and one of the most prominent representatives of the historical avant-garde in Slovenian visual arts. In 1976, he received the Prešeren Award, and in 1981 he became a (foreign) corresponding member of the SAZU. Joining us will be Franko Vecchiet, Černigoj’s student and Dr. Peter Krečič, Slovenian art historian and art critic.
Dr. Peter Krečič graduated in 1970 and received his doctorate in 1982 from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, where in 1996 he qualified as a full professor. In 1971 he was employed as a curator of the art collection of the Goriška Museum, and in 1973 as a curator for industrial design of the Architectural Museum of Ljubljana, which he led as director from 1978 until his retirement in 2010. He was a visiting professor at the Department of Landscape Architecture of the Biotechnical Faculty, and from this year at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana; between 2004 and 2011, he collaborated as a lecturer with the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska, and from 2004 at the School of Design. He is scientifically dedicated to the study of Slovenian art, especially architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries, and art criticism during the interwar period. He initially focused primarily on questions of the Slovenian historical avant-garde in its European context, art criticism, and monitoring contemporary visual creativity. He later dealt in-depth with the study of the life and work of architect Jože Plečnik.
Franko Vecchiet is a graphic artist who studied in Urbino, Venice, and Ljubljana. He deals with graphics, installations, and creates smaller art objects. He has had numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. He teaches woodcut at the International School for Graphics in Venice.

The InMusic Music Association was founded in October 2015, out of a desire for joint socializing, creating, and making music. The main task and goal of the InMusic Music Association is to introduce the classical accordion to a wider audience, which, with its colorful sound, captivates even the most demanding audience. In addition to presenting the classical accordion, the association’s main goal is to instill a desire and will for music in younger generations.
In addition to the orchestra, the association also has a chamber group consisting of violin, classical accordion, and solo singers. The chamber group participates in various festivals, events, social gatherings, and collaborates with other professional musicians. It is made up of professors and masters of music.
The accordion orchestra, chamber group, and association are led by Professor Mikela Uršič.
The event is free of charge.
In case of bad weather, it will take place in the gallery.

Summer Friday Music Evenings – Duo Katy Mauriel
The Katy Mauriel duo, accompanied by guitarist Tiziano Bole.
Katy Mauriel, an Italian singer with Slovenian roots, made her first performance at the age of three with her father’s ensemble. Since then, over the years, she has turned her passion into a profession. She studied piano for eight years at the Trieste Conservatory. She later trained in vocal technique, which provided her with the foundation to start teaching singing herself. Since 2001, she has been collaborating with various pianists, guitarists, and different ensembles, performing in prestigious environments where top-notch live music is played. She particularly enjoys performing in theatres. Her repertoire includes jazz, bossa nova, and pop compositions.
Summer Friday Music Evenings – Boštjan Pertinač band
A charming Karst troubadour and the first beard of the Slovenian music scene. Boštjan Pertinač is certainly one of the most promising young singer-songwriters, persistently conquering radio stations and Slovenian hearts with his distinctive musical style and typical Karst dialect.
Boštjan Pertinač is undoubtedly one of the most promising young singer-songwriters currently conquering the Slovenian music scene. The native of Sežana, who in the past has already won us over with songs such as ‘DAJ POVEJ MI’, ‘PIHI BURJA’, and ‘SUHI ZID’, most recently also performed at the prestigious 40th Melodies of the Sea and Sun festival, where he sang about mysterious blue eyes with the song PLIMA in the Karst dialect.
In case someone still doesn’t know, … Sz Sežane doma is the latest single by Karst singer-songwriter Boštjan Pertinač, which also announces the album of the same name. The song describes all Karst goodies from Teran to Jota.
Boštjan is a singer-songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who, in addition to his solo career, also runs his own music school Pertinach and workshops for the elderly. The fact that he became a true Karst troubadour is in fact thanks to Gaber Radojevič, who gave him a crucial piece of advice ‘BE YOU!’ when listening to the song ‘Daj povej mi’. Thus, he began to use his native Karst dialect in his texts, which also suddenly gained him greater media recognition. His good friends Marko Loredan, a renowned Primorska bassist, and Italian singer Daniel Nealy Renner, also played an important role.
In times of change and challenges brought by COVID, he made the decision to return to his native Karst after 10 years of living in Nova Gorica, which turned out to be key for his solo career. “I fell in love with it. When I came back to my home environment, to the company of locals, I got new inspiration and new momentum. The love for Karst and Karst landmarks such as barren red earth, stone, wind … all these characteristics make us Karst people as we are and I try to capture this in my music.
