Event
08 February 2025

You are cordially invited on Saturday, February 8th, to our winter open house day. Admission to the Lipica Stud Farm estate is free.

On Prešeren Day, February 8th, we commemorate the death of our greatest Slovenian poet, France Prešeren. We have been celebrating this Slovenian Cultural Holiday since as far back as 1945. As a cultural institution, the Lipica Stud Farm each year joins this important Slovenian holiday and welcomes visitors with an open house day.

We warmly invite you again this year!

Good to know:

The 7th stanza of Prešeren’s “Zdravljica” is our national anthem, which is why this is the most important poem by France Prešeren for Slovenians.

Each year, on February 8th, Prešeren Awards and Prešeren Fund Awards are also conferred for outstanding achievements in the field of art in Slovenia. The Prešeren Award is given to creators who have enriched Slovenia’s cultural treasury with their artistic achievements or lifetime work.

Duo Kamikazete
Performance at 11:00

Duo Kamikazete is an acrobatic dance duo performing on aerial props, which you may recall from this year’s “Slovenia’s Got Talent.” They impressed viewers with their extreme, dangerous yet graceful acts that never fail to stir emotions and leave a lasting impression.

VOKALNA SKUPINA KRESNIK

Members of the Vokalna skupina Kresnik come from the Karst region and its surroundings, and for six years they have been united by their joy in making music together. Six years ago, they convinced Miran, originally from Slavec but living in Postojna, to lead the group. He inspired the boys with a diverse choral repertoire. A fellow musician once advised him: “When you come to the Karst, know that it can be hard to fire up the locals, but once they do get passionate, they really ignite and won’t ‘fade away.’”
And thus, in that time, the group has delivered numerous notable performances and full-length concerts, including a singing tour around the Karst. Every year, they conclude their season with a grand concert at Kosovel Cultural Centre in Sežana. They always invite special guests to join them, such as singer-songwriter Rudi Bučar, famous opera soloists, various dancers, and others. Two years ago, they successfully held a series of five Christmas concerts in Nova Gorica, Postojna, Sežana, Škofije, and in the Maribor Cathedral, proudly presenting themselves and the Karst region across Slovenia. Last year, they even traveled to Sarajevo, where they participated in the Slovenia in Sarajevo festival.
